The official Feedstock Carbon Intensity Calculator has been published alongside the final rule.
Why version control matters
A commercial tool that produces a carbon intensity number is not the official calculator. Any provider offering a CI estimate should be able to state which version of FD-CIC their tool corresponds to, and how their output reconciles to the official tool's output for the same inputs.
If a provider cannot answer that question, the number they produce cannot be checked.
What to ask a provider
- Which FD-CIC version does your tool implement?
- Where do your results differ from the official calculator, and why?
- Can you produce the official calculator's output for the same field records?
